What is Occam's Razor?
In layman's terms, Occam's Razor simply states that given two or more explanations, generally, the simplest of the options is correct.
Many of the great equations of physics and the nature sciences reduce to extremely elegant and simple forms when they are derived.
The basis behind Occam's Razor is the introduction of assumptions. According to the razor, any assumption that does not improve the accuracy of a solution or problem must be discarded. The reason for this is the compounding of error that is continually introduced with each assumption.
This applies to the diet and fitness industry quite often. Since many of the studies and research that has been done neglects to test long term results (where most of the error will be), it's safe to say that when combining different "theories" of weight loss, more and more error is introduced.
Therefore, when it comes to fitness related articles and studies, take a simple approach.
