The Hidden Enemy:  Why No One Is In Shape
Welcome to the World of Fixes.

The biggest problem in the world right now is the aspect of instant gratification.  It is
because of this, that we as a collective are more out of shape than we've been... ever.  

But, how does this relate to preventative maintainance?

You see, most of us understand the we need to change the oil in our cars, rotate the
tires, check the fluids...  

We understand because their is a pretty immediate cost for not doing these things -
namely, your car won't last as long as it should.  New tires are needed much sooner...
the engine blows up... these things equal big bucks to most people.

Now, mention the same types of things when it comes to heart attacks, strokes, and
other possible health problems - most of which can be abated by a healthy lifestyle -
and this same person just doesn't have time.

Is it because there is no "price tag" on great health?  Or, is it because the risks seem to
be so far away?

Actually, it's both.

I guarantee that if you told someone that they'd die tomorrow if they didn't work out
today... they'd work out... everyday without fail.

However, that's not the case and someone dying 5 years from now just doesn't have
the urgency that a car that can blow up in 6 months without a proper oil change.  It's
just too far out for many people to feel like they have to start today.

Tomorrow will suffice... until tomorrow is today... and tomorrow will suffice again.

Preventative maintainance is a tough sell.

Face it, most people want the quick fix... the magic pill that will make all of their worries
go away.
