People are wiser now when it comes to fitness. Now this may make one think that setting up a health club means instant money because people will be flocking to your health club in droves right? Wrong. People are also wiser now about the choices they have when it comes to fitness clubs. So if you do not 'shape up' and make sure that your health club management ways are the best in the industry, you might as well not begin a health club.
Better Health Club Management Tips
Without great management, no matter how expensive the equipment are in your health club and no matter how many Ph.Ds your staff possess, your health club will be unable to survive for long, especially in a cutthroat world such as the fitness industry. So do keep in mind the following points.
Be true to your name. So what is a HEALTH CLUB? It is place equipped with facilities for exercising and improving fitness. In this very broad definition, find your niche and stick to it. For instance, say you want your health club to cater to water fitness enthusiasts. As such, ensure that you have a BIG swimming pool, hold water aerobics classes and come up with water sports members can join. It doesn't matter if you don't have that much gym equipment. However, if you have few equipment and a small pool, you are not really catering to anybody specifically and as such will end up enlisting nobody.
Supply the basics. Naturally, for your health club to be a successful one, you have to start with supplying the basic needs of your members. For instance, don't scrimp on space! We see hundreds of fitness clubs that, in their desire to squeeze in more equipment, put as many fitness machines as they can. The negative end result here is that the health club looks very cramped. Also, don't scrimp in amenities. You don't need to buy the most expensive towels but ensure that the ones in use in your health club are always clean.
Staff your health club with professionals. The average Joe or Jane does not know how to properly carry out exercise routines. It is also likely that he or she does not know how to operate fitness machines. However, it is taken for granted that somebody at the health club will help them. Do not disappoint on this area. Part of proper health club management is to ensure that members are always in a safe and secure environment when they are in your premises.
Listen to customer needs. A health club can be a real money maker if it has loyal members who recommend your health club to others. Indeed, word of mouth advertising is really something that can make or break a business. And since a health club is in the service industry, ensure that you listen to your health club members. If they say that it's too cold in the shower or changing rooms, fix it!
