What is energy flux?

Energy flux basically means the total amount of energy that passes through you in a given time frame. In a diet and fitness realm, this simply means that the total calories burned plus the total calories consumed equals the energy flux for an individual.
The higher the energy flux of a person, the higher the metabolism gets.
This can be accomplished a few ways. One, through the thermic effect of food. It is well known that the act of digestion burns calories. Therefore, the more you eat, the more calories your digestive system burns.
Also, the higher a person's energy flux, the quicker the body recovers, which comes to another increase in metabolism.
Higher energy flux helps to increase muscle mass and helps in the reduction of body fat as long as certain constraints are used. You can notice how this works in the flowchart "Energy Flux Wheel" Diagram.
